Hilton Hotels

Sonet have been in partnership with the Hilton Hotels Ireland group for the since 2004, during which time we have been responsible for voice and data installations in all Hilton Hotels throughout Ireland. Our services have ranged from installing additional network outlets to complete re-patching and re-designing of comms cabinet layouts of across various sites. With the opening of the latest hotel in Limerick, Sonet were required to position and test the phone handsets throughout the site. When a problem with the mini-bar system arose, Sonets on-site engineers were able to test the voice cabling and rectify the problems before the opening date.  

Travelodge

In 2004 Sonet was responsible for the installation of a new pay per-view television system in all Travelodges throughout Ireland. This required new data cabling, from every bedroom to be installed back to a newly installed Comms cabinet, which housed the video on demand server. Each bedroom was then equipped with a new Amino set top box which allows access to the TV and radio services. Alongside which a new telephone handset was positioned which allowed guests to pay for selected services by credit card. Wifi access points were also put into position to allow all guests wireless internet access. With the Belfast Travelodge being located in the City Centre in a converted office building this presented its own unique set of problems. While most Lodges have a similar layout and the same furniture the Belfast branch seemed to have different furniture in every room. This resulted in Sonet having to arrange for individual shelving units being designed for each room to facilitate the positioning of the set-top boxes.
